This Spider Lift Looks Perfect, But I Wouldn’t Use It for Roofing

In this video, I test the Palazzani TZX 250S at Elite Access and look at whether this compact spider lift is suitable for roofing, chimney work, tree surgery and general access.

This 25 metre spider lift weighs around 2.6 tonnes, fits through a standard garden gate, and offers over 10 metres of outreach, which sounds very impressive on paper.

But how does the Palazzani TZX 250S actually perform in the real world?

In this video, I head down to Elite Access in Milton Keynes to test the Palazzani TZX 250S and compare it with the standard TZX 250. Both machines share similar core specifications, but the 250S has one major difference: the basket is mounted out in front of the boom rather than underneath it.

That change makes a big difference when working over roofs, structures and obstacles.

I look at the machine’s 25 metre working height, 10.5 metre outreach, 250kg basket capacity, road-towable weight, narrow access width, variable outrigger setup and overall usability. I also explain why this machine could be a brilliant option for arborists, tree surgeons, estates, facilities maintenance and general access work.

However, from a roofer’s point of view, it is not quite the perfect machine. The lack of a fly jib means it does not offer the same fine control needed for detailed roof repairs, chimney work, leadwork, pointing and awkward up-and-over positioning.

So while the Palazzani TZX 250S is a seriously capable spider lift, it may suit tree work and general access better than roofing and chimney repairs.
