In this video I speak to Lisa, a student at Durrell Wildlife Conservation, trying to save the critically endangered black lion tamarin from extinction. Her research focuses on designing nestboxes that the monkeys can use to cross between forest fragments in their native Brazil. As we learn in this video, the distinction between conservation in the wild and in captivity is becoming increasingly blurred, and research has a key role to play in that conservation.

This video is about Durrell, a conservation charity based on the Island of Jersey, and the work they do saving species from extinction. We learn about black lion tamarins, an adorable species of monkey from the rainforest of Brazil, that is critically endangered due to habitat loss. The student in this video - Lisa - is hoping to start her PhD on their conservation soon. This research focuses on tamarin nest boxes, saving the monkey from extinction by helping them migrate between forest fragments.
