The idea that a curved blade helps with edge alignment by orienting itself automatically with the edge toward the target is a common myth, based on the observation that (some) curved swords fall with the edge forward when you let them go. Too bad that sword fighting is not done by dropping the weapon on the opponent in free fall, eh? :)
