Things you will need for the repair:
• Shade String / Cord
• Restring Needle
• Small Screwdriver
• Plastic Washers
• Cord Guides (optional)

Instructions:
1. 0:12 - Remove shade from window and lay on a flat surface. Remove the end caps from the top and bottom rails.

2. 0:22 - Slide the bottom rail off. Insert a small screwdriver into the hole in the top of the headrail to release the cord lock. In some models, the cord lock is located at the end of the head rail and can simply be pulled out. Remove any cord condensers or equalizers that inhibit the removal of the cord lock. Save parts to reuse if not damaged.

3. 0:41 - Slide top rail off in the opposite direction of the cord lock hole. Remove broken string, saving any washers for reuse.

4. 1:02 - Cut each new replacement string to the proper length. Twice the length plus the width is a generous estimate. It's better to be too long than too short. Tie a plastic washer to the end of each string in a double knot so that it is tight and does not slip. Thread other end of string through the restring needle. Inspect the cord guides. In some cases the cord may have run a groove in the guide. If this has happened you will either need to buy a new guide or simply rotate it 90° so that the groove is away from where the cord will run. Insert the needle through the route hole on the bottom of the shade and pull all the way through until the washer is seated at the bottom of the shade. Repeat this step for each lift cord.

5. 1:48 - For shades with a cord lock on the front of the head rail, thread each string through the cord lock's guide. Seat the long edge of the cord guide in the rear channel of the top rail of the shade. Lay the strings in the large middle channel so they come off the end of the rail and slide the head rail cover back on.

6. 2:28 - Fish the cords through the cord lock opening hole with the small screwdriver. Thread the string through the cord lock. The string should be beneath the dark piece on the cord lock, then place the rear slide over it locking it in place.

7. 2:58 - Insert the assembled cord lock into the opening on the face of the head rail. Slide the bottom rail back on and reinsert the end caps on both rails.

8. 3:14 - Rehang your shade. Lower the shade until it is extended to the desired length. Trim off extra string, leaving at least six extra inches. Reattach condensers.
