Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) by Dr Margo Mountjoy

Dr Margo Mountjoy talks about the pathophysiology and evolution of Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S). She discusses the implications of RED-S in terms of health and performance and how male athletes are affected. In addition to this, Dr Mountjoy proposes the RED-S clinical assessment tools for screening and return to play.

Dr Margo Mountjoy is a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Medical Commission, is Chair of the FINA (Fédération Internationale de Natation) Sports Medicine Committee, and is a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency’s TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption) Committee. Her areas of specialty include female athlete health, elite child athlete health, prevention of sexual harassment and abuse in sport, and anti-doping.
