The Day Ayrton Senna Refused to Start the Race

Monaco. 1984.
Ayrton Senna was not yet a champion. He was a rookie in an underpowered Toleman — a car nobody respected.
It was raining so hard the race should have been stopped.
Senna didn't care.
He drove like a man possessed. Lap after lap, he hunted down the leader — Alain Prost, the world champion, in the best car on the grid.
Senna was closing. Half a second per lap. Catching him in real time.
Then race director Jacky Ickx red-flagged the race. Stopped it completely.
Senna was robbed of his first ever win.
Some believe Prost made a phone call.
Nobody proved it.
Nobody denied it either.
