Traveling Mexico 2021: People keep asking us, is Mexico dangerous? Is Mexico safe during the pandemic? Of course like anywhere it depends on where you are and what your intentions are, but we have found that we feel more safe living here in Oaxaca than back in the US. The only people in Oaxaca you don’t see wearing masks for the most part are foreigners. Open-air restaurants with rooftops and socially-distanced tables can be found on every block. Upon entering any establishment they take your temperature, give you sanitizer, and spray you down with disinfectant. The people here are very conscious of practicing correct safety measures to keep everyone safe and healthy. You have to realize that they don’t have a government or fund that will bail them out. They rely on themselves and their community to do the work to see the containment of this virus. It’s a simple lesson we were taught as children, look out for those you love - we are nothing without our community.
