Gettysburg Monuments Explained: Are They in the Right Place?

In this episode of Monuments Monday, historian Tim Smith addresses one of the most frequently asked Gettysburg questions — are you sure that's where that unit was positioned during the battle? The answer is yes, and no.

The position of monuments at Gettysburg National Military Park can be flawed. Some soldiers struggled to remember exactly where they fought, certain monuments moved based on the land and who owned it, and others had to be placed according to interpretation needs.
