HAIL STORM AT LAKE TITICACA PERU | Floating Islands of Uros | Amantani Island Homestay

After an overnight Peru Hop bus ride from Arequipa to Puno, we arrived on the shores of Lake Titicaca, Peru! In this vlog, we were getting ready to do a two-day excursion to Lake Titicaca floating islands, such as Uros, Amantani and Taquile.

The Lake Titicaca Floating Islands of Uros are unique. They are made of reeds. For generations, a local tribe has been maintaining Uros islands, and we were visiting two of the islands for a quick visit. Here, we experienced a rare hail storm!

Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake on earth - it sits at more than 8,000 meters, or roughly 12,000 feet. Lake Titicaca is shared by Peru and Bolivia, and the floating Uros Islands are located on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca.

The high elevation affected our breathing, as well as our mobility.

After Uros Island, we continued on to Amantani Island where we spent the night doing a homestay with a local family. On this island, we experienced great hospitality with Muña tea, a delicious dinner, and even a dance night, dressing up in local attire!
