Cynthia Ann Parker Inspired John Wayne's Movie 'The Searchers'

Cynthia Ann Parker was a white woman who kidnapped by the Comanche tribe on an attack of Fort Parker in Texas. There were many efforts by her uncle to rescue her but they failed. After 25 years she was captured at The Battle of Pease River. Her family tried to assimilate her back into the white ways of life but she never could adjust. Cynthia's story has been said to be the inspiration behind the classic western movie 'The Searchers' starring John Wayne. Her son is none other than Quanah Parker. He was the last great Comanche Chief and led his people thru the transition into Oklahoma and the white ways of life.
