Communist China's true objective is to 'buy us, not to beat us'
Sky News host Peta Credlin says there are too many important Australians who have “too much of a vested interest in not rocking the China boat” even though it’s abundantly clear China and Australia’s interests are “often poles apart”.
It comes as recent reports from the Daily Telegraph reveal a board member from the Wuhan Institute of Virology who was heavily involved in a Sydney University study into the coronavirus, also happens to be a colonel in China’s People’s Liberation Army.
“How many medical researchers at Australian universities are also senior officers in the military? The answer of course, would be near-enough to none, but not so, it seems, with China,” Ms Credlin said.
“It’s collaborations like this, multiplied across the country and in a whole range of different endeavours, that make it hard for us to tell the truth about China”.
Ms Credlin said in China, all activity is “guided and controlled by the Communist Party,” with every business, and enterprise being significantly influenced by the state machine.
“It’s because their system and its values, are so different that we have to be incredibly careful about Chinese ownership of Australian businesses, and our companies’ dependency on Chinese supply chains.
"We do have to realise that China is our strategic competitor - as well as an economic partner - and that everything China does has a strategic intent".
China's true objective is to "buy us rather than beat us," Ms Credlin said.
