Chaka and Rufus, Rufus and Chaka...right from the get go of "Tell Me Something Good" I was a fan...the funk! the soul! that voice! The seventies were better because of them...and they closed the 70's with this monster....a chunky, funky jazz funk pop concoction that proved irresistible, topping the R&B chart at the end of 1979 for three weeks and set up producer Quincy Jones the opportunity to succeed himself at #1 with Michael Jackson's "Rock With You" for another six weeks into 1980. It did not do as well on the pop charts though, peaking at #30. Who cares! The extended version on the 12 still was not long enough for me...
