I never heard anything from Boz until he released his now classic "Silk Degrees" in 1976, although he had been recording since 1966. "Lowdown" was an instant favorite, the culmination of sounds used in the production like the fuzz guitars and the vibraphones gave it a bittersweet feel firmly entrenched in r&b."Lowdown" was nearly a top ten Disco hit peaking at #12. a few months ahead of the its chart peak on the Hot 100. He went on to have more hits with the same r&b flavor in songs like "Miss Sun" and "Jojo" among many others. His star faded after 1980, and he did not release another album until 1988 "Other Roads" produced by Stewart Levine which gently directed him back to the r&b sound he was so successful with but did not produce any hits.
