Antique Meat Grinder Restoration
Good day Ladies and Gentlemen! I found this beautiful meat grinder made by Alexanderwerk (based in Remscheid, Germany) at the metal recycling yard, it came home with me ;-)
It came out better than I expected but there seems to be a missing piece, keeping the auger and the main body from separating, I could not find any info on the missing part whatsoever, nonetheless, the grinder came out great and will be able to mince some meat.
Please remember I am not a professional restorer, This is merely a hobby and a passion for me, I am learning as I go.
With that said, I hope you enjoy the video.
If you have any suggestions for improvement, or compliments share them below!
Some history about the company that made this grinder.
''On November 2nd, 1885, the entrepreneur Alexander von der Nahmer founded a foundry in Remscheid. The company became successful with the production of a hand-operated meat grinder, which was discovered by Nahmer in America and reproduced under license in Germany. Other everyday products and machines for butcher shops were also manufactured. After the company's founder died in 1888, the sons Wilhelm and Adolf took overtook over the management of the plant and brought the company Alexanderwerk AG to the stock exchange in 1899. Numerous commercial agencies have been founded abroad to ensure sales outside of Germany. At peak times, the Alexanderwerk had 3,000 employees.
After the Second World War, the company specialized in the manufacture of machines for the pharmaceutical industry. To this day, Alexanderwerk AG is regarded as the market leader in the construction of compactors and granulators.''
