Date cake/ sticky toffee pudding By Daryeel Kitchen

Ingredients: 
250g of plain flour 
3 eggs at room temperature 
100g brown sugar 
100g granulated sugar
200g of pitted dates, chopped into small cubes
250mls of hot milk
200g unsalted butter at room temperature 
2 tsp baking powder 
1 tsp baking soda 
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
2tsp of vanilla extract 
Pinch of salt 

1. Add the chopped dates in a bowl, add the hot milk and sprinkle the baking soda. Set aside for half an hour. 
2. In a large bowl cream together the butter and brown sugar for about 5-7 minutes or until soft and creamy. 
3. Add the eggs 1 at the time, add the vanilla extract and the cinnamon
4. Add the soaked dates and mix all together 
5. Sift in the flour, baking powder and pinch of salt, mix everything well
6. Butter 1 round cake tin of 30cm. Or 2 small cake tins 
7. Bake in preheated oven at 180c for 40-45 minutes, or until tooth pick comes out clean 
8. When the cake is ready, insert tooth pick all around the cake. 
9. Pour the caramel sauce ( see recipe)
