#1 Yarn
A knitter can never have too much yarn. Period. So, it can be a well-received gift. On my blog, you will find a massive list of over 150 indie yarn dyers, and each and every one of them sells amazing colorways that will make a knitter’s heart beat faster. https://nimble-needles.com/wool-and-tools/the-best-indie-yarn-dyers/
#2 Etsy voucher
If you don’t know the person that well, you can buy an Etsy voucher, it’s also a good last-minute gift. If there’s a nice yarn shop in your city/town, you could also ask them if they offer gift cards.
#3 A nice project bag
Knitters store their work in progress in a bag to keep it out of harm's ways (dogs, kids, cats, etc). And since most knitters work on more than just one project they will need more than just one.
#4 Stitch markers
Are you looking for an inexpensive gift for knitters? Then get some stitch markers. Knitters use them to marks special spots in a pattern to keep track. And since they are easily misplaced you can never have to man of them.
#5 A knitting pattern book.
Another great gift idea is a book. As a knitter, you are always looking for new patterns, and you’ll spend your lifetime learning new techniques. Here’s a list full of them: https://nimble-needles.com/wool-and-tools/the-best-knitting-books-for-beginners-advanced-knitters/
You need to know two things: Do they have it already and what’s their knitting focus (socks, sweaters, toys, etc )
#6 A yarn bowl
A yarn bowl is a container to store your working yarn and keep it from getting dirty and running away. A true must-have for every knitter.
#7 A knitting t-shirt
If you look around etsy or amazon, you will find tons of great knitting shirts with witty one-liners or great images. Perfect for people who love to wear t-shirts
#8 Customized Tags
There are leather/fabric tags available a knitter can attach to a finished project. The messages are usually customizable and it could say “Knit by Name”, etc
#9 A mug
Knitting and drinking coffee or tea goes well together. And most knitters I know are like me, they like to take a sip between stitches ever so often. So, a knitting-inspired mug could be a great idea, add some nice tea and you have a great gift.
#10 wearable craft light
A lot of people knit in the evening when the lighting situation is not as good. A wearable craft light is a true lifesaver in these cases.
#11 A needle case
A lot of knitters tend to have a lot of needles. A special needle case helps you to keep organized.
#12 Wool detergent
Even as a non-knitter you probably know that you shouldn’t throw wool into the laundry dryer. Most hand-knitted garments are actually handwash only. So a nice wool detergent can be a great choice. It’s inexpensive and since it’s a consumable you can never really have too much of it either.
#13 fluff remover
Wool tends to pill over time. So, a nice fluff remover can be a great choice. There are these special cashmere combs and electric lint removers.
#14 Knitting jewelry
Just check out Etsy and you will find a lot of fun rings, necklaces, and bracelets. So, if you know the person loves accessories this could be a great choice.
#15 Knitting needles.
Last, but certainly not least, I would like to mention knitting needles. I have a very detailed review of the best interchangeable knitting needles here: https://nimble-needles.com/wool-and-tools/the-best-interchangeable-knitting-needles/
That being said, knitting needles are kind of a hit or miss gift for a knitter. If someone already has a set of knitting needles, they don’t need another one. In this case accessories for an existing gift and be a great choice.
