Green Beret With 37 Bullet Wounds Held His Intestines In - Then Spit On Doctor Who Zipped Body Bag

This is the unbelievable true story of Roy Benavidez, the Mexican-American Green Beret who became "The Real Rambo." On May 2, 1968, near the Cambodian border, Staff Sergeant Benavidez jumped from a helicopter into a jungle where 12 Special Forces soldiers were surrounded by over 1,000 North Vietnamese troops. For the next six hours, he saved eight lives while sustaining 37 separate wounds.

Shot seven times, stabbed through both arms with a bayonet, hit by grenade shrapnel 28 times, with a broken jaw and intestines hanging from his abdomen, Benavidez refused to stop fighting. He held his guts in with one hand while dragging wounded men to safety with the other. When it was finally over, Army doctors declared him dead and zipped him into a body bag. Roy's response? He spit directly in the doctor's face to prove he was still alive.

Born into poverty in Texas as an orphan, told by doctors he'd never walk again after a landmine destroyed his legs in 1965, Roy Benavidez proved that "impossible" is just a word. President Reagan awarded him the Medal of Honor in 1981, calling his story so incredible that "if it were a movie script, you would not believe it."
