Canada’s political candidates are wrapping up a turbulent first week of the federal election campaign. With one month to go, Mark Carney's Liberals are gaining momentum with some polls suggesting a possible majority. But growing economic threats from the U.S., including new tariffs set to take effect in the coming week, are shifting the focus of all parties. Touria Izri reports.

A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck three countries in Asia on Friday has claimed more than 1,600 lives in Myanmar and left the city of Mandalay in ruins, with aid efforts in and out of the region severely hampered. In neighbouring Thailand, at least 10 people were killed, most in a high-rise building that collapsed under construction. Candice Cole reports on the frantic search for survivors.

Cities and towns across Canada are already feeling the brunt of U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade war. With new tariffs looming, municipalities are demanding a seat at the table to deal with them.
