CAVERNS OF THE SOUTHWEST - CARLSBAD & KARTCHNER

Carlsbad Caverns and Kartchner Caverns
The Guadalupe Mountains of southern New Mexico were formed around 20 million years ago when tectonic activity forced a gigantic limestone reef to rise from an inland sea. Over time, sulfuric acid ate away at the rocks, creating caves and underground passageways now known as Carlsbad Caverns.

Kartchner Caverns massive limestone cave has 13,000 feet of passages and two rooms as long as football fields. This underground wilderness remains protected while offering visitors a rare tour through multi-colored cave formations that were created millions of years ago.
