"As far as the fugitive (deposed president''s brother) Zhanybek Bakiyev and other close relatives of his are concerned, so far we have no information (of their whereabouts), but I think in the near future they will be found, detained and stand trial, and will bear responsibility under the law of our state."

"Zhanysh (Zhanybek) Bakiyev had made a promise to the commander of the police special forces to give himself up by 10 am (0400 GMT) April 16. But he has not done that yet. He is now under our control. It is not our goal to seize him at whatever price. He is hiding behind 50 women and young people - we do not want their blood to be spilled. So let him sit there even for 10 days (we will wait)."

STORYLINE
Security forces cordoned off the family compound belonging to deposed Kyrgyz president Kurmanbek Bakiyev on Saturday to allow prosecutors to search the premises for weapons.
Local residents gathered at the compound, situated near the southern village of Teyit, to complain about the search.
Kurmanbek Bakiyev''s relatives had submitted weapons in Teyit on Friday morning according to officials, although it is unclear how much firepower the family may have had its disposal.
Basarkan Bectasheva, a local resident, claimed there was no reason to conduct the search on Saturday.
The ousted presdient left on Thursday for neighbouring Kazakhstan on a flight arranged by the US, Russian and Kazakh leaders in an unusual joint mediation effort.
His brother Zhanybek Bakiyev, the former head of the presidential guard service, is still on the run.
He is accused of ordering that shots be fired into a crowd of protesters in the capital Bishkek on April 7.
No members of the Bakiyev family remained at the compound on Saturday, the search teams said.
Artur Medotbekov, deputy head of of the state security service, said Zhanybek''s whereabouts were unknown, but that he expected he would soon be "found, detained and stand trial, and will bear responsibility under the law of our state."
In Bishkek on Saturday, the interim government''s acting prosecutor-general, Azymbek Beknazarov, said Zhanybek Bakiyev had failed to give himself up to the security forces by 10 a.m. (0400 GMT) April 16.
It appeared that, at the time of the news conference, Beknazarov still believed Zhanybek Bakiyev to be in the family home in Teyit.
