Knowledge4Retail - Artificial Intelligence for Retail

What will the retail of the future look like? In Knowledge4Retail (K4R), #DFKI and the project consortium led by team neusta GmbH are developing innovative #ai and #robotics solutions for stationary #retail. The core of the project is the K4R #software platform, which creates a link between the digital and analog world. Using a digital representation of the retail store, the so-called semantic digital twin, the platform enables novel AI and robotics applications. The video shows an application of the K4R platform, the #autonomous service #robot MARLIN to support store employees. MARLIN continuously exchanges information with the platform. It can thus update the digital twin via its sensor technology and benefit from the digital representation of the store in the K4R Platform, e.g. by receiving information about locations of products, store geometry or high customer traffic. The K4R platform also implements AI methods to control MARLIN, or even an entire fleet of AGVs. The application shows how robotics and AI can make stationary retail more attractive to stay competitive with online retail.

Knowledge4Retail – Künstliche Intelligenz für den Handel

Wie sieht der #Einzelhandel der Zukunft aus? In Knowledge4Retail (K4R) entwickelt das DFKI zusammen mit dem Projektkonsortium unter Leitung der team neusta GmbH innovative #KI und #Robotik Lösungen für den stationären Einzelhandel. Kern des Vorhabens ist die K4R Software Plattform, welche eine Verbindung zwischen digitaler und analoger Welt schafft. Mit Hilfe einer digitalen Repräsentation der Einzelhandelsfiliale, dem sogenannten semantischen digitalen Zwilling, ermöglicht die Plattform neuartige KI- und Robotik-Applikationen. Das Video zeigt eine Anwendung der K4R Plattform, den #autonomen Service Roboter MARLIN zur Unterstützung von Filialmitarbeitern. MARLIN tauscht kontinuierlich Informationen mit der Plattform aus. So kann er den digitalen Zwilling über seine #Sensorik aktualisieren und von der digitalen Repräsentation der Filiale in der K4R Plattform profitieren, z.B. indem er Informationen über Standorte von Artikeln, die Filialgeometrie oder ein hohes Kundenaufkommen erhält. Die K4R Plattform implementiert darüber hinaus KI-Methoden zur Steuerung von MARLIN, oder sogar einer ganzen Flotte aus AGVs. Die Anwendung zeigt wie Robotik und KI den stationären Einzelhandel attraktiver gestalten können um konkurrenzfähig gegenüber dem Online-Handel zu bleiben.
