Intelligent space robotics: scientist Wiebke Brinkmann speaks on the EU-funded research in Bremen
The space robotics project PRO-ACT involves research on robots that can be used for construction tasks. Nine project partners from six countries, including the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), are collaborating as part of the EU funding initiative Horizon 2020 in implementing and demonstrating several robotic systems that can cooperate in order to fulfill different tasks in a lunar mission. This includes the assembly of an ISRU (In-Situ Resource Utilization) infrastructure on the moon as a precursor for a human settlement.
DFKI scientist and engineer Wiebke Brinkmann of the Robotics Innovation Center presents the project on the occasion of the Digitaltag 2020 event, which took place on 19 June. Due to the risk of infection by the Corona virus, the employees of the DFKI are wearing a facial protection.
