Keir Starmer faces leadership coup claims amid plummeting approval ratings
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has insisted his team is “united” after a senior minister was forced to deny that he was planning to oust the Labour leader.
Rumours have been swirling that Health Secretary Wes Streeting was plotting to challenge Mr Starmer after months of falling approval ratings, to which he has forcibly denied.
Overnight, Mr Starmer denied claims he authorised Downing Street to brief the media that he’d fight any move against him.
Fresh polling by YouGov has found an increasing number of voters are dissatisfied with Mr Starmer.
More than 50 per cent of respondents said they think he should stand down, while a quarter of people said he should remain as Labour leader.
