Mozart – Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K. 488 | Full Performance

Composed in 1786, just weeks before the premiere of The Marriage of Figaro, this concerto shows Mozart at the height of his creative powers. The second movement — a haunting Adagio in F-sharp minor — is especially rare and emotionally deep, offering an introspective contrast to the brightness of the outer movements.

💡 Fun fact: Mozart originally scored this concerto for a smaller orchestra — no trumpets or drums — giving it a more intimate, almost operatic feel. In fact, many scholars believe he conceived this concerto as a dialogue between voice and orchestra, mirroring his work in opera.

🎹 The concerto is structured in three movements:

Allegro – Joyful, clear, and elegantly conversational
Adagio – Quiet sorrow, subtle tension, rare beauty
Allegro assai – Playful, bright, and rhythmically alive

🎧 This is a masterpiece of balance — between light and shadow, simplicity and depth.

⏱ Timestamps / Chapters:
0:00 Allegro (1st Movement)
9:20 Adagio (2nd Movement)
15:55 Allegro assai (3rd Movement)
