Best Places to See in Rijeka, Croatia

We are celebrating our wedding anniversary in Rijeka, Croatia! We will spend a day in this busy Adriatic city and will take you with us to show you the best places to see in Rijeka.
We will take a stroll on the main pedestrian street called Korzo and visit the central market and the city port. Rijeka is the third largest port in Croatia, so many stunning yachts are docked at the marina.
In ancient times, Rijeka was a small fishing town called Tharsatica (Tarsatica), and it was under different rules in its long history, so every rule left its mark on the city's architecture. Although the earthquake on 28th of November 1750 destroyed a huge part of Rijeka, it was rebuilt and even transformed into a larger maritime city.

We will also have a coffee in the only gluten-free cafe and pastry shop in Rijeka and will try to find a gluten-free lunch, not an easy task 🙂 in a country where the cuisine is heavily influenced by the Italian way of cooking.
In the end, we’ve left the best - the view from the top of Trsat Castle, 138 meters above the sea. From here you can see the whole city of Rijeka.
