Acid Reflux
Acid reflux or Heartburn refers to the burning sensation caused in the chest due to excessive acid build up. When the valve between the stomach and the food pipe is unable to close properly, it results in the stomach acids moving up, causing acid reflux

Symptoms to look for:
• Burning sensation in the chest due to acid build up
• Irritation, sore throat and a sour taste in the mouth

Causes:
• Valve between the stomach and & the food pipe is unable to
close
-----------------------------
Food groups to consume in acid reflux:
1. Alkaline foods: Neutralize stomach acids
Foods to consume: papaya, pears, bananas, apples, ripe melons, kiwis and vegetables like carrots, beetroots, spinach & celery
2. Foods which have cooling effect on the stomach
Foods to consume: Basil seeds

Recipes based on the above food groups:
Recipe 1: Salad
1. Take 1 kiwi, 1 banana and 2-3 strawberries
2. Chop them together in a bowl
3. Add 1 tsp of honey to it
4. If you like, add a pinch of pepper for taste
5. Toss it well
Recipe 2: Cooling drink
1. Soak 2 tsp of basil seeds in water, also known as sabja
seeds
2. Let them soak for about X 10 minutes. They will swell up
3. While these seeds soak, peel 2 carrots
4. In a juicer, blend these carrots along with 1 celery stalk
5. Collect this juice in a glass
6. Now, once the basil seeds have swelled up, strain the water
7. Add the seeds to the juice
8. Add salt and or chaat masala for taste

Tips:
• Avoid eating large meals
• Avoid consuming - Spices, garlic, tomato, vinegar and fried
foods
• Avoid smoking, alcohol and coffee
• Do not lie down immediately after eating
