It's the most wonderful time of year, but for many families it is also the most expensive time of the year.

With Canadians already grappling with inflation and tariffs, many consumers are struggling to balance their budget with the temptation of holiday deals.

New research from the Boston Consulting Group shows that high housing costs, job insecurity and geopolitics are all factoring into how Canadians are spending money this holiday season.

Kathleen Polsinello, head of BCG Canada, speaks with Global’s Nivrita Ganguly about how Canadians are choosing to shop Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals ahead of the 2025 holiday season. And she says shoppers are shopping for essentials – but are “eager” to support Canadian companies.
