Making a Three Fold Friend Letter & Chat | Easy Collage Art Gift | Happy Mail Ideas

I hope everyone is doing well today! This video is a little bit different from my other collage videos. We aren't working in a journal today, but on a letter. This is called a Three Fold Friend Letter. This was a fun project that was the brain child of me, Beth (Girl Gotta Glue), and Ashley (Thrifty Chica) several years ago after we had all met through the bargain community on youtube.

Pocket letters were huge then, but they didn't really resonate with us. We wanted something with more surface space to collage and create (Beth and I are collage based journalers til the end lol) and that wasn't as expensive to ship as pocket letters. Some pocket letters were so stuffed and heavy that they had a pretty high shipping rate. So, we came up with this after coming across pages, divided into three pockets, designed to store collector currency and realized they would fit folded up in a generic legal length envelope and ship for a stamp or two.

They never really caught on. Also, life happened and we stopped making them after awhile. They still hold a special place in my heart. So, I thought it would be fun to make one as a throwback to the old youtube days and send it to Beth as a surprise while I was off work a few days.

I really enjoy it because it also reminds me of when I started doing magazine collage when I was really young. I would collect old magazines, find images that fit with a specific person, and create a collage that I would frame in thrifted old picture frames that I would paint with old nail polish to give it some pizazz. I never had money to buy fancy gifts growing up, but I tried to put a lot of heart and personalization into each picture I made.
