Louis Armstrong recalled and honored his friend Fats Waller 12 years after his death in 1943 on Los Angeles - New York train as the train was approaching Kansas City, recording in New York for Columbia label 9 Waller compositions on April 26 1955 (2 sessions), April 27 (2 sessions), May 3 (2 sessions), issued in 1955 first on LP Columbia CL 708 ''Satch Plays Fats''
Here is one of these 9 compositions, recorded on first Apr. 26 session, during which the Band recorded two Takes (Master and Alternate) of this one and exactly the Take Master of:

''I've Got A Feeling I'm Falling'' (Billy Rose - Harry Link – Thomas Waller) - Louis Armstrong and His All-Stars – Rec. Returning to the death of Fats Waller, it is said that that day (Dec. 15, 1943) the train, on which his great friend Louis Armstrong was travelling, found itself by chance to cross that of Waller, stopped near Kansas City for his death, and that, as soon as the Armstrong train stopped there, Louis went down and ran to Waller, now already dead. Waller's ashes were scattered by a airplane on Harlem.
