4th Down Fail: Why Not Tush Push?

Teams keep overthinking the easiest play in football. The Philadelphia Eagles have perfected the tush push for years, turning 4th-and-1 into an automatic conversion. Yet we still see teams lining up in spread sets and coming up short in the most critical moments.

This clip shows Kansas State against Iowa State on 4th-and-1 late in the 4th quarter. Instead of running the near-guaranteed QB sneak push, they went spread formation, failed to convert, and it ultimately cost them the game.

The question is: why? Why do coaches keep avoiding the most effective play in football history? Is it pride, scheme preference, or fear of copying the Eagles? Whatever the reason, the result is the same — drives stall, games swing, and teams lose.

Watch the breakdown of this short-yardage disaster, why the tush push remains unstoppable, and the bigger lesson for coaches at every level of football.
