Jalen Warren Breakout? Steelers RB Surging Into Week 3 vs Patriots

Jalen Warren’s usage is quietly exploding in Pittsburgh’s backfield, and the numbers back it up. After playing just 25 snaps in Week 1, Warren jumped to 36 in Week 2 — going from 45% of snaps to 58%. His route participation spiked from 26.5% to 41%, and he turned 18 touches into 134 total yards. That’s real RB1-level efficiency.

Through two games, Warren owns 67% of the Steelers’ backfield touches, while Najee Harris has dropped to just 54%. The efficiency gap is massive too: Warren sits at 6.2 yards per touch, compared to Kenneth Gainwell’s 3.3. The Steelers may finally be figuring it out.

The matchup with New England is tougher than it looks. The Patriots have allowed only 2.5 yards per carry to RBs, third-best in the NFL. But last week they gave up 110 receiving yards to backs, and Warren’s growing role as a pass catcher sets him up for more volume. With Christian Gonzalez back in coverage and pushing targets away from DK Metcalf, Warren could be the key offensive weapon in Week 3.
