The picturesque and winding road (D116) leads through the center of the island. When leaving Jelsa, we pass villages: Humac, Poljica, Zastražišće, Gdinj, Bogomolje to reach Sućuraj, where we are waiting for a ferry crossing to the mainland to Drvenik.
Sućuraj is a small Mediterranean town, located on the eastern end of the island of Hvar, in a place where the island is the closest to the Dalmatian coast.
The Jelsa - Sućuraj road section is not one of the easiest routes and provides many exciting experiences. The road is very winding and narrow. In places we drive right next to the edge of the road and there are no safety barriers. The advantage is the small traffic on the road and the lack of major elevations. The inconvenience of the trip is rewarded by beautiful landscapes of the island of Hvar, which can be seen passing the center of the island. The distance to travel from Jelsa to Sućuraj is about 52 km.
For drivers with weak nerves I recommend a ferry crossing "Split - Stari Grad" and "Stari Grad - Split"./
