On the eastern cape of the island of Hvar is a small picturesque tourist and fishing village Sucuraj. It is surrounded on three sides by the sea and is the closest place to land. The combination of the sky blue sea, Dalmatian stone houses and narrow streets, the Neretva Channel, the view of Biokovo with the Makarska Riviera, Brač, Korčula and Pelješac, give the place a special charm.

Beaches and bays
Thanks to the large number of sunny hours, good climate, beautiful nature and crystal clear sea, Sucuraj is the perfect destination for holidays. With the exception of the port, it is possible to swim everywhere along the coast, it is a great advantage that the Sucuran coast is on the north and south side of the island of Hvar because if the south wind blows, there will be bonaca on the north side and vice versa.

Sights of Sucuraj are: Parish Church of St. George, the Franciscan monastery from the 9th century and also the oldest well-preserved building, the church of St. Ante and Fortica Fortress.

Gastronomy
The gastronomic offer of restaurants, inns and taverns in Sucuraj includes traditional local specialties based on fish, crabs, shellfish, wine and olive oil, and offers a large selection of meat and vegetarian dishes. The offer is completed by a pizzeria and a pastry shop.

Sports and recreation
In Sucuraj it is possible to rent smaller boats, bicycles and scooters. Fans of cycling, running and hiking can enjoy more than 30 kilometers of trails around the place. Passing the old hiking trails through forests and olive groves, by the sea and on the hill you can enjoy the untouched and interesting nature. Views of Sucuraj and the surrounding landscape (Neretva and Hvar canals, the mountain Biokovo with the Makarska coast, the Peljesac peninsula and the islands of Brac and Korcula) are very attractive and form a magnificent decor.
The seabed around Sucuraj is quite interesting because of the lush sea vegetation and fish that live there, so fans of diving and spearfishing will come into their own. Everyone who loves fishing has a choice between fishing from land or boat. Since Sucuraj is a fishing village, it is possible to find a kind host who will be happy to take tourists fishing with his small boat.
