US NAVY STRIKES: Blockade Breached? US Seizes 900ft Iranian Cargo Ship Touska

On April 19, 2026, U.S. forces escalated their enforcement of the naval blockade against Iran. The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance (DDG 111) intercepted the Iranian-flagged cargo vessel M/V Touska in the Arabian Sea as it attempted to transit to Bandar Abbas.

After a tense six-hour standoff where the vessel ignored repeated warnings to alter its course, the Spruance fired its 5-inch MK 45 gun directly into the cargo ship's engine room, disabling its propulsion. U.S. Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) subsequently boarded the 900-foot vessel and took custody of it.

In this video, Defense Now breaks down the tactical interception, the specific capabilities of the USS Spruance, and the conflicting narratives between U.S. CENTCOM and Iranian state media regarding the clash in the Gulf of Oman.
