Two wheel drive classroom robot update

This is a robot I’m working on for educational outreach. I’ll be visiting the African Leadership University in Mauritius in March to teach a week long class on robotics, and this robot will be a teaching aid and gift for the students.

The actuators can be made even on small $200 printers, though I printed all this on my $500 printer. There are motors and printed planetary gearboxes in each actuator. I’ve designed some custom motor shaft position sensors and have written software for a raspberry pi to control the motors via Bluetooth control from an iPhone. The robot will also have a neural network processor on it and will be capable of autonomous person following or navigating to avoid obstacles.
