Wendy Red Star: "My Home Is Where My Tipi Sits (Crow Country)" & "Four Seasons"
In the first of these two clips from Wendy Red Star's Visiting Artist Lecture in Photography, the artist shares the impetus and final results behind her project "My Home Is Where My Tipi Sits (Crow Country)," staged at the Missoula Art Museum in 2011.
In the second clip, the artist discusses "Four Seasons"—a series of self-portraits in Crow garments with plastic flowers, inflatable animals, Astroturf and image of Western landscapes from the 1970s, originally staged at the Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. The project developed into a collaboration with the artist's nine-year-old daughter, Beatrice Red Star Fletcher ("Bea"), who for her iteration, invited museum visitors into the work as part of a participatory endeavor held at both the Denver Art Museum and the Seattle Art Museum,
