On this episode I continue with the ongoing restoration of this 1979 Kenworth W900A truck to turn it into a tribute movie truck to the one used in the 1977 classic movie Smokey and the Bandit with Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason. If you haven’t seen it yet, there’s no excuse “Hit them brakes, found he had no air”

Upon cleaning up the old brake assemblies and throwing down some flat black, it was off to the parts store to buy new brake components for the project. This is the one area of an old truck restoration you just don’t want to cheap out on. With new parts in hand, I proceed to setup the new brake chamber, slack adjuster, install the brake shoes, springs and drum then performed an initial adjustment. One down and three to go…
