Hiking Aztec Peak - Sierra Ancha Wilderness, AZ
Aztec Peak is located in the Sierra Ancha Wilderness northeast of Roosevelt Lake, and is one of the Arizona 2000 ft. prominence peaks. My brother and I parked close to the beginning of Forest Rd. 487 to give ourselves a 14 mile hike with about 2400 ft. of elevation gain. We had a lot of haze on the horizon in every direction, but if you get there on a clear day the views should be amazing.
