I did this photoshoot in my shed! Easy Portrait Photogrpaphy tutorial.
This is the last video in our 3 part epic charity shop portrait photography challenge. 3 members from the Practical Photography team got together for this special portrait photography challenge, where we each shoot the same model in a variety of styles and locations. Louise and Richard have each taken their turns shooting and styling our model, Holly, and put their own spin on it using nothing but savvy location choices, charity shop outfits and a budget of £20. This time it's Kirk's turn.
Using the imaginative setting of his shed, Kirk creates a 1970s Americana retro photography setup, complete with double denim and hippy t-shirt. Using the Nikon Z7 and Z 35mm f/1.8 S, he creates some retro 35mm portraits with a modern editorial photography twist, aiming to take the top-spot in this photography challenge... but did he win? Let us know in the comments!!
You'll learn all about our portrait photography settings, as well as watching Kirk mix natural light photography with speedlite flash to capture his take on the 70s... groovy baby! Stick around and learn the basics of good model photography, and a couple of crazy photoshoot ideas you can try yourself for better portraits.
Big thanks to Sue Ryder for allowing us to film in their charity shop, and for stocking some amazing, slightly weird items to bring our random ideas to life.
We hope you enjoyed this, and you can see more of the shots on out Instagram, @Practicalphotography https://www.instagram.com/practicalphotography/?hl=en
