About coils in the 10 uH - 10mH range (also for Shortwave) buy/test/save them on their inductance
Video about coils in the 10 Micro Henry up to 10 Milli Henry range.
Idea: buy some coils with known inductance (could be 10 % tolerance) and save/indicate/store them in a way that you have a reference when you need a coil in this inductance range.
Schematic of a inductance tester for this inductance range (10 uH-10 mH) is here https://youtu.be/zgDfNmk9Whg
It works very good & I wish you lots of success.
The brown antenna coil on 8.30 in the video showed 18 Micro Henry on the (this) inductance meter. That is OK for a SW antenna coil. On 7.19 in the video I mean: SW frequencies (2-10 MC) that can be received with a 150 pF parallel capacitor to that antenna coil that I mention/show there (8-10 windings separated by their natural 1 mm plastic isolation on that well varnished toilet roll of say 4.4 cm. diameter).
When I say “10 to the 3” I mean that that coil is 10 Milli Henry. The well varnished cardboard coil form (=4,4 cm diameter) works best as an antenna coil. For a VFO (Local oscillator coil) it is also usable, but: a coil of (approx.) 2 cm diameter (say PVC, often 1.8 or 2.2 cm diameter) works much better for a VFO/Local oscillator coil in a Superheterodyne radio in this frequency band (2Mc-12 MC).
The Quality factor of a 4,4 cm diameter well varnished toilet roll coil with 8 windings is very high, it strays around when used as a local oscillator/VFO coil. Of course shielding can help in such a case.
There are approximately 1000 Video’s on my YT channel. I do only analog electronics: audio amplifiers, analog measuring devices, radio circuits, many Shortwave radios, many oscillators HF and audio, other audio & shortwave circuits. Also many (test) generators for all kinds of waveforms, both in the audio range and HF.
Also simple “switch” circuits like the Schmitt triggers acting on different input voltages, 555 circuits and circuits of basic electronics issues like “Ohms law”, resistance properties, capacitance properties, the capacitors testing process, electronic “matching” in audio circuits and audio amplifiers, audio pre amplifiers, microphone amplifiers, etc. In all cases you find the schematic inserted in the video.
When you have questions about (certain analog) electronic circuits and how to make them: go to my Channel trailer (Radiofun232 on You Tube) and go to the “looking glass”. Type there the keywords that you want/need like: “power supply”, audio amplifier, capacitor tester, oscillator, radio, shortwave, shortwave radio, or any keyword you like to find the essential info & schematics on my YT channel.
My You Tube channel trailer is here: https://youtu.be/xbgQ8T3oqh4
When you search, search always “NEWEST FIRST” to get the right overview. You can also search via the “looking glass” on my Channel trailer via keywords like ”audio”, “radio”, “amplifier”, “filter”, “Shortwave”, “transistor”, “FET”, “oscillator”, “generator”, “switch”, “schmitt trigger” etc; so the electronic subject you are interested in.
My books about electronics & analog radio technology are available via the website of "LULU”, search for author “Ko Tilman” there. There are also free downloads and you get the complete view.

The 2 “indexes documents” can also be found via https://www.lulu.com/search?adult_aud...
Some of my books (not all) are available via Barnes and Noble and via Amazon. But all my books (the complete bunch) are/is available on the website of LULU. Please note: these index documents go to approx. autumn 2020.
Regarding all my video’s: I constantly keep them actual, so the original video’s with the most recent information are always on YouTube. When my videos are reproduced or re-edited on other websites/channels you cannot be sure about the originals (=really working electronics with real properties for a purpose) and important (later) adaptations to the circuits. I saw on the www. my circuits reproduced in a poor/not proper way. I also found that people probably republish my circuits with fantasy names & fantasy properties. Sometimes they want to find gold with them. I take distance from all these fake claims; I cannot help that it happens, sorry. Upload 23 March 2021.
