It seems like such a simple question to answer. What is the difference between a blog and a website? Quite honestly, I’m guilty of using the two terms interchangeably myself. The truth is, they can have some pretty drastic differences and in today’s video, I’m going to explain what those differences are.

Are Blogs and Websites the Same Thing?

• In theory, yes. In practice, no.
• You can have a website without a blog, but never a blog without a website

What is a Blog and How Does it Work?

• A blog is an entire website or a place on a website where the business owners or employees share their thoughts and data on topics they feel they should write about.
• Blogs work by displaying a collection of posts in reverse chronological order. People who come to the blog can read all of the posts, search for posts, or review posts by category.

• A website is a collection of web pages and (can) include a blog. Expands far beyond the limitation of blogs

What are Blogs Used For?
- Businesses use them to show expertise
- Individuals to showcase expertise
- Educate people
- Share your voice with the world
- Reviewing Products/services
- Share hobbies/crafts

Which is Better - A Blog or a Website?
• I feel that a full-blown website is better than a blog.
- Websites go beyond an individual or single voice
- Opens up possibilities to get bigger
- New revenue streams
- Additional tools/resources to help community
- Expands scope of blog into a full business website
