Step up and ring the bell for peace - ABRP 'Windy' Hill and myself touring Japan by train during HMAS DERWENT's (DE49) 1978 Far East Deployment. The Hiroshima Peace Park and A Bomb Dome (Ground Zero) Museum and Cenotaph. A beautiful city, beautiful people. Then onto the stunning gardens of Kyoto.

Highlighting the absurdity of war was the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Shop located hardly 500 Metres from the A Bomb Dome and Ground Zero. With a huge statue of Colonel Sanders out the front and inside full of Japanese feasting on American Fried Chicken and Fries!
