Happy elderly couple lives in the taiga forest far from civilization. Life in Russian villages

Siberian Golendras live in taiga villages of the Irkutsk region. They are descendants of the Golendras, who moved during the Stolypin reform from Volyn (Western Ukraine). Their language is a mixture of Belarusian, Ukrainian and Polish. It is interesting that they have German surnames, in Soviet times they were mistaken for Germans, government services sent intelligence officers to them, and during the Great Patriotic War they were sent to labor camps instead of the military front. The Golendras have a very interesting history, but unfortunately in our time there are few of them left; in total, 2000 Golendras live in the Irkutsk region; they are part of the small peoples of Russia.

The Golendras maintain their traditions and customs to this day. They hunt, fish, engage in livestock breeding and farming. They also know many folk crafts, such as embroidery, weaving and making motan dolls. The Golendras are very proud of their culture and try to pass it on to the younger generation.

Despite the fact that their numbers have declined, the Golendras now receive government support to preserve their language and culture. They hold various festivals and events to draw attention to their unique history.

It's a pity that the Golendras have encountered problems and misunderstandings in the past. However, I hope that now their culture will be more recognized and respected, and that their people will continue to live and prosper in the Irkutsk region.
