Summer In Rural Russian North. Hay making in village far from civilization. Russia 2024

Life in the villages of the Arkhangelsk region is a combination of difficult climatic conditions and strong folk traditions. Harsh winters require a lot of preparation and a supply of feed for livestock and fuel for heating.

Agriculture: Small subsidiary farms form the basis of life. They grow potatoes, vegetables, and look after livestock (cows, sheep, chickens).

Fishing and hunting: They are important as sources of food and income. Water bodies are rich in fish, and forests are rich in game.

Crafts: Local residents are engaged in various crafts, including wood carving, souvenir making, and wicker weaving.

Social organization: Village life is organized around community relations. Neighbors often help each other in preparing firewood, repairing buildings, and harvesting.

Traditions and culture: Rituals, folk festivals, and musical and dance heritage are preserved. Spiritual life plays a major role, with frequent church attendance and active participation in religious holidays.
