DaVinci Resolve 21 Tutorial: How to Remove Green Screen Background (Free Version)

Hi everyone. In this tutorial, I'll show you how to remove a green screen background in the free version of DaVinci Resolve 21. Let's get started.

Step 1. Arrange your footage.
On your timeline, place the green screen footage on the top track and your desired background footage on the track behind it.

Step 2. Apply the 3D Keyer effect.
Select the green screen clip. Go to the Effects Library, In the search bar, type "3D", Click and drag the 3D Keyer effect onto the green screen clip.

Step 3. Open the effects overlay.
With the green screen clip still selected, click the icon to open Effects Overlay (the "Open FX Overlay" button).

Step 4. Remove the green screen.
In the preview screen, simply draw a line over the green screen area. The background will be removed instantly.

Step 5. Check the result.
Your subject should now appear cleanly over the background footage.
