Marianna ha ereditato dallo zio Antonio vaste possessioni: un giorno, mentre se ne ritorna alla masseria, incontra alcuni banditi, capeggiati da Bentine Fera, che vorrebbero ricattarla. La salva l'intervento di un altro bandito, Simone Sole, un ex servo dello zio Antonio e compagno d'infanzia di Marianna. A casa Marianna trova il cugino Sebastiano, rientrato dal continente col proposito di sposare la ricca cugina, per riassestare il suo patrimonio dilapidato. Ma Marianna nutre per Simone Sole un affetto, che il recente episodio è venuto a riaccendere: essa s'oppone quindi ai progetti di Sebastiano, appoggiati da padre di lei.

Marianna has inherited from his uncle Antonio vast possessions: one day, as he returned to the farm, he meets bandits, led by Bentine Fera, who would blackmail her. The prejudice to the intervention of another bandit, Simone Sole, a former servant of his uncle Antonio and childhood friend of Marianna.
