L.A.-based photographer and filmmaker Josue Rivas gained national attention for his work covering Standing Rock. In this moving and visual talk, he explores his own experience an indigenous man and journalist, and why Native people should be telling their own story. Josue Rivas is a first nations documentary photographer, cinematographer, and film director specialized in working on stories that challenge the mainstream narrative about indigenous peoples. His work aims to create awareness about issues affecting native communities and to amplify the voices of those in the shadows of our society.
