Through the Lens -- Creativity and Determination: Clyde Butcher at TEDxSarasota

Clyde Butcher, a photographer best known for his monumental, black-and-white, Florida landscapes, speaks at TEDxSarasota. Clyde is a self-educated photographer who works with antique cameras to create work with an emphasis on conservation. He explains how creativity and persistence allowed him to design processes to shoot, develop, and print his photographs, which often measure 5'x7'. The beauty and importance of Clyde's photography has generated widespread recognition resulting in many museum exhibits and high honors. Clyde has also completed six Public Broadcasting programs on the environment of Florida, with three of them being award-winning documentaries. This talk is part of TEDxSarasota's inaugural conference held on 12/12/12 with the theme "Creativity Matters" at the Historic Asolo Theatre in Sarasota, Florida.

ABOUT TEDx: In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
