To get really good at a language, you need to develop all four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. In this talk Dr P. explores and celebrates them all… and offers you three of the best take-away tips for each. A polyglot's dozen to set you up for more language learning success!

Gareth Popkins has a doctorate in Russian history from the University of Oxford and taught the subject in Welsh at the University of Aberystwyth. He then trained as a lawyer and worked for several years in the Moscow office of an international law firm. A London-based language enthusiast, teacher and mentor, his “best” foreign languages are Russian, Welsh, German and French and he has studied several others including Basque and, now, Japanese.
