23. Radio Ga Ga (Queen-Live In Brussels: 6/17/1986) (Awesome Audio)

Hello you crazy and wonderful subscribers! My original plan was to upload the Queen I/II Debate and re-upload several shows that have better/alternative sources. However, that plan was interrupted when a brand-new source for this popular Magic Tour gig surfaced on Queenzone, and I got people requesting me to upload it on the channel! So... for a Christmas present, here's the new Brussels 1986 source!

Compared with the previous uploaded source of this show, this new source not only has better quality (and has great stereo sound), but the mix sounds much better and there are no rough overtones on the vocals (Freddie's and the backing harmonies). This makes the show sound even better than what it previously was and lots of subtle nuances are revealed! This recording has some slight distortion (especially on the second half of the concert), but apart from that, the quality is great and this recording is musically complete!

This show is one of my favorites on the Magic Tour due to the high-energy edge on the performances (especially on the heavier numbers), and the unique vocal deliveries by Freddie! Although sounding a bit rougher compared with gigs like Stockholm and Leiden, Freddie's voice still sounds strong overall and features some great powerful belting throughout this gig! The band are also in fine shape overall (the Impromptu is amazing), so expect a top Magic Tour gig! Now... time to ramble about the songs!

"One Vision" isn't nearly as strong as previous versions, but it is still a solid performance with Freddie hitting great notes during the outroduction part, "Tie Your Mother Down" features conservative phrasing that resembles versions from the previous tour, but thankfully, Freddie gets stronger as the song progresses and Brian's guitar playing is first class, "In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited" is probably the definitive Magic Tour version as Freddie belts the hell out of the song with authority and features closed-vowel phrasing during the first verse, "Seven Seas Of Rhye" has Freddie cluttering the piano intro--but the performance is solid overall, "Tear It Up" has wicked chesty belts by Freddie and is one of the best Magic Tour renditions of the song, "A Kind Of Magic" is the "weakest" version from the early Magic gigs with Freddie not going for some of the higher phrases--but the performance is still good overall, "Under Pressure" is a good performance overall with some great Freddie belts, "Another One Bites The Dust" is a mixed bag as Freddie has a "Works Tour moment" during the first chorus and some of the phrasing sounds rough, but this version still beats the shit out of all the versions from the previous tour! "Who Wants To Live Forever" sounds alright (there are better versions overall), but the chorus parts sound great with Freddie going for higher notes on the last two "Who Wants To Live Forever" lines, "I Want To Break Free" is a good version overall, and "Now I'm Here" has some really great gutsy phrasing by Freddie that sounds like Crazy Tour versions!

"Love Of My Life" is a great version overall, "Is This The World We Created" has really nice phrasing by Freddie, the oldies section is energetic, "Bohemian Rhapsody" has one of the most epic first verses by Freddie (probably the second-best first verse on the tour behind 3rd Leiden's first verse), "Hammer To Fall" is solid overall, but Brian has some trouble in the solo section, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" is a great rendition overall, "Radio Ga Ga" is one of the better versions from the early Magic Tour gigs, "We Will Rock You" has Freddie switching the lyrics around (singing "waving your banner all over the place" in the first and second verses) and hitting A4s in the second and third verses (probably to make up for the lyrics goof), "Friends Will Be Friends" has Freddie fumbling a line--but gives the vocals a good go, and "We Are The Champions" is one of the strongest Magic Tour versions as Freddie hits strong sustained Bb4s before the chorus parts and does creative phrasing in the second chorus!

ENJOY!!!

Note: Merry Christmas!
